CCA MARKETING TEAM BRINGS HOME BIG WINS FROM REGIONAL MARKETING CONFERENCE

Colorado Springs, Colo. The Community College of Aurora’s (CCA) marketing and communications team proudly walked away with multiple awards at a recent conference, showcasing the best of community college marketing.

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) held its annual district conference in Colorado Springs in early October. CCA brought home three awards, including two gold medallions and one silver medallion.

The first-place awards celebrated CCA’s outstanding work on its on-campus signage and displays, as well for its overhaul and redesign of its website. CCA won a silver award for its work on outdoor signage and displays.

Community College of Aurora President, Dr. Mordecai Brownlee said the wins highlight the college’s efforts of drawing in new students with unique and eye-catching marketing initiatives.

“The efforts of our strategic communications team have truly elevated our institution’s mission and student impact. Your dedication and creativity have set a new standard for excellence at the Community College of Aurora,” Dr. Brownlee said.

Blair Lee, CCA’s Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Alumni Engagement leads the institution’s marketing team, and spearheaded the winning campaigns on campus and online. He says maintaining a high standard for the college’s brand enhances the student experience.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team.”We’re charged with telling the story of our institution; in doing this work it is critical that we make certain that we’re putting out the best possible product everytime. Doing so will attract a new generation of learners.”

Ana Romero, Visual Content Strategist at CCA, worked with the Strategic Communications team in the overhaul and re-design of the school’s website earlier this year and worked tirelessly on the creative designs. The grueling work involved combing through thousands of stray and unusable pages, and scaling them down to only the ones students need.

She said, “It’s awesome to see all the team’s hard work being recognized. We can’t wait to submit the website redesign to the NCMPR Paragon Awards!”

At the conference, Lee led a presentation on how to take an institution through a complete brand refresh. CCA has been recognized nationally as an example of how to effectively overhaul an organization’s brand identity from top to bottom.

Lee says the key is building a team that shares the same ideals of education being accessible to everyone, choosing experts in their fields, while working toward the shared goal of creating a place for students to succeed.

Schools from Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming displayed their best work in digital, print and video marketing.

Each fall, districts around the country hold regional conferences on the latest trends and topics related to community college marketing.

In early 2024, a national conference will be held in Seattle, offering schools the opportunity to present their work on a national stage and compete for prestigious awards.
