Translation & Interpretation: Medical Cert
The Translation and Interpretation Certificate with a Medical emphasis provides the fundamental practices in the three modes of Interpretation-consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation-and an additional understanding of medical concepts and terminology to those seeking professional certification as medical interpreters, or plan to work in medical settings.
Prerequisites:
- Provide evidence of proficiency in English with one of the following:
- Completion of ENG 1021 or higher with a C or higher, OR
- Successful completion of the English ACCUPLACER test.
- Other evidence demonstrating English proficiency may be approved by the Department Chair
- Provide evidence of proficiency in a second language with a minimum level of 9 in the placement test administered by Alta Language Services. Please reach out to the Testing Center or Department Chair for information on testing.
