Greetings, CCA Community.
On Friday, June 24th, the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade was officially overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). This decision signals a federal shift in laws, with significant and variable impact across the United States. Within our own college community, I have been informed that several of our students returned to our classrooms (virtually and in-person) today with questions and thoughts, ultimately seeking space to dialogue on the matter. While an array of feelings and opinions are present within our community, I felt deeply that I had a responsibility to send this message. A message not of political stance or personal opinion, but one of care and consideration. Furthermore, I felt that failure to send a message to our community acknowledging the impact of this ruling, would in itself send the wrong message.
As an institution, we recognize that members of our community will experience this decision in different ways. As always, we care deeply about the well-being of all of our CCA community members and their families.
