FINANCIAL AID – GETTING STARTED

We will provide students with the knowledge and tools to be self-sufficient with Budgeting Basics including evaluating your finances, creating a budget, budget worksheet practice and monthly usage.

We will teach students that using studentaid.gov for students will develop the knowledge and tools to be self-sufficient in keeping track of their Financial Aid History

We will provide students with the knowledge and tools to be self-sufficient with Credit Basics including what is credit, how to build credit, how to read credit reports & how to use Credit Karma as a daily tool to review personal activity.

We will provide students with the knowledge and tools to be self-sufficient with knowing how to protect their assets by reducing the amount of risk that can lead to Identity Theft.

We will teach students to maneuver the StudentAid.gov website for loan repayment information upon graduation.

We will teach students how to manage their spending, as well as how to start a savings plan.

Students will learn about Banks vs Credit Unions, services offered, checking & savings accounts.

Students will learn what it means to be in debt as well as how to get out of debt.

Discusses 7 Life Events: College, Buying a car or home, Family Life, Estate Planning, Retirement & Planning for Unexpected.
