Communication Transfer AA
The Associate of Arts (AA) in Communication prepares students for successful transfer to a four-year institution to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Communication or a related field. The program develops students’ abilities to communicate effectively, ethically, and thoughtfully across personal, academic, professional, and public contexts. These in-demand skills are essential for educational attainment, civic engagement, and career success. Through the study of interpersonal communication, public speaking, media, and cultural communication, students learn to analyze messages critically, adapt communication to diverse audiences, and understand the social, cultural, and technological forces that shape human interaction in contemporary society. The Communication program emphasizes practical skill development alongside critical inquiry. Students build confidence as speakers and collaborators, strengthen their listening and argumentation skills, and learn to navigate communication in digital and mediated environments. These competencies support workforce readiness and upward socio-economic mobility in careers that value collaboration, leadership, persuasion, and ethical communication, including business, marketing, advertising, journalism, public relations, media, and social and human services.
The AA in Communication includes coursework aligned with transfer requirements across Colorado institutions, allowing students to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at Community College of Aurora while benefiting from high-value instruction and comprehensive academic support. In alignment with CCA’s mission, the program is designed to support every student’s success by fostering confidence, critical awareness, and effective communication across communities and contexts.
