Aurora, Colo. –  The Community College of Aurora Foundation (CCAF) and Community College of Aurora (CCA) debuted a new student support resource this week: a free school supplies closet dubbed the Fitzsimons Credit Union Success Station. Made possible by a generous $4,500 gift from Fitzsimons Credit Union, the new resource expands CCA’s network of wraparound resources designed to reduce barriers to education and help students remain focused on their academic goals.

At the Community College of Aurora, we know that student success is built on intentional wraparound support, said Dra. Reyna Anaya, CCA’s Vice President of Student Success. We are grateful to Fitzsimons Credit Union for helping ensure our students across all three campuses have the school supplies they need to focus on learning and achieving their goals. Their partnership is an investment in the success of our students and our community.

CCA’s Division of Student Success celebrated the new resource on Aug. 10 with a ribbon-cutting event at the CentreTech Campus Wellness Den.

CCA’s Division of Student Success celebrated the new resource on Aug. 10 with a ribbon-cutting event at the CentreTech Campus Wellness Den, home to the primary Fitzsimons Credit Union Success Station. Free school supplies are also available in the Student Lounge at Lowry Studios and at Foxy’s Resource Center at CCA’s Centennial Campus for Healthcare and First Responders. It’s part of ongoing expansions of student support services; CCA just opened the Wellness Den earlier this year.

The college previously provided free school supplies to students seeking assistance, but an increase in requests during the previous academic year highlighted the need for a more organized and accessible resource. CCAF partnered with Fitzsimons Credit Union to help meet that need.

We are grateful for the leadership and staff of CCA for their shared commitment to student success and for inviting us to be part of this important initiative, said Ana Valles, Fitzsimons Credit Union’s Vice President of Marketing. Together we’re investing not only in education, but in the future of the students who will become tomorrow’s leaders. We hope every student who visits a Fitzsimons Credit Union Success Station knows that their community is cheering them on and they have partners who are invested in their success every step of the way.

The Fitzsimons Credit Union Success Station offers CCA students free school supplies.

CCA students can access the free school supplies alongside other support resources, including CCA’s food and personal care cabinets. Each campus resource location includes an iPad where students can sign in to access available services.

The expansion of these resources reflects CCA’s broader commitment to addressing the needs that can affect a student’s ability to persist and succeed in college. Through partnerships with organizations such as Fitzsimons Credit Union, CCA continues to strengthen a network of support that helps students access essential resources, remain focused on their education and move closer to achieving their academic and career goals.

Students can learn more about available advocacy resources, campus locations and hours of operation on CCA’s website or by visiting a student resource space at any of the college’s three campuses.
