Community College of Aurora Foundation Names New Leadership Inspired by the Transformative Impact of Scholarships

AURORA, Colo. – The Community College of Aurora Foundation (CCAF) is proud to announce new leadership officers on its Board of Directors.

Kara Jorgensen, Director of Human Resources at Comcast’s Mountain West Region, has been named President of the CCAF Board. Jorgensen served as Vice President on the CCAF board for the past three years and brings a strong passion for advancing access to higher education in Aurora.

“It’s an incredible honor to step into the role of Board President for the Community College of Aurora Foundation,” Jorgensen said. “Over the past four years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of our scholarship programs on students’ lives. That experience has deepened my commitment to expanding access to education and inspired my vision for the Foundation’s future. I’m excited to continue working alongside our dedicated board and community partners to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.”

CCAF’s mission is to provide life-changing opportunities for students by developing philanthropic resources, community connections, and industry partnerships. Jorgensen and the rest of the board serve as the keepers of the vision and strategy for the Foundation, supporting the organization to secure and steward philanthropic gifts to advance educational attainment, workforce readiness, and upward socio-economic mobility for all CCA students. Meanwhile, CCAF Executive Director, John Wolfkill, takes the lead on executing those strategies within CCA.

“Kara’s deep commitment to the mission of the CCA Foundation has been evident in every decision, relationship, and initiative she has championed as a board member,” Wolfkill said. “As our new Board President, her vision, passion, and investment in our student’s success will continue to be an inspiration to others who want to serve and lead in our community.”

Joining Jorgensen in leading the CCAF Board of Directors are:

  • Lacey Golonka, Community Affairs Manager at Molson Coors — now serving as Vice President.
  • Brian Mulnix, Client and Project Development Director at GH Phipps Construction Companies — now serving as Secretary.
  • Josh Stewart, Senior Vice President at FirstBank — Stewart is beginning his third year as Treasurer.

Prior to her new position, Jorgensen worked on the board with former Board President Phil Smith.

“Kara and Lacey bring tremendous energy, insight, and heart to the Community College of Aurora Foundation,” Smith said. “Their commitment to education and equity is inspiring, and I am confident their leadership will help elevate the Foundation’s impact in meaningful ways. It is exciting to see such passionate and capable individuals step into these roles at such a pivotal time for our community.”

The board’s new officers guide the Foundation and the rest of its directors in supporting student success and advancing the mission of CCA.
