AURORA, Colo. – The Community College of Aurora (CCA) Foundation is thrilled to announce it has received a $12,500 donation from Cat® dealer, Wagner Equipment Co., to support CCA’s Diesel Power Mechanics program. This generous donation was doubled by a matching $12,500 contribution to the CCA Foundation from the Caterpillar Foundation.
“As CCA prepares Coloradans for in-demand jobs in Colorado, donations like these from Wagner Equipment Co. and the Caterpillar Foundation provide critical support for hands-on learning and training,” says Phil Smith, Chair of the CCA Foundation Board of Directors.
CCA’s Diesel Power Mechanics program prepares students for in-demand jobs across the many industries where power is supplied by diesel engines with hands-on training and real-world experience. With the opening of CCA’s new Center for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) building, scheduled for the fall of this year, students will have access to brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities where they can learn and train to become Colorado’s next generation of working professionals. The CAST building will also be home to the college’s other STEM-focused programs, such as engineering, cybersecurity, renewable energy, and more.
Jim Delung, Ed.D., Dean of Academic Success in Career and Technical Education said, “Through these donations, Wagner and Caterpillar Foundation have demonstrated their support of CCA and its Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE). Our programs’ success is evident in the many CCA graduates, including graduates of the Diesel Power Mechanics program, who have joined the Colorado workforce.”
