AURORA, Colo. – This month, the Community College of Aurora Foundation held its first ever Beyond Scholarship Breakfast. The event was designed to connect scholarship donors with the recipients of those awards.
Foundation leaders were excited to put on the celebration, as it was the first time they were able to host an event designed to engage donors with their scholars. Organizers were thrilled to have more than 100 people in attendance, including community partners, donors, and students.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for our very first Beyond Scholarship Breakfast,” said Britt Davis, CCA Foundation Scholarship and Donor Impact Coordinator. “This scholarship breakfast truly accomplished its goal of showcasing amazing student scholar stories.”
Leaders say the event was an especially eye-opening experience for scholarship recipients, who were able to talk directly to their donors and share stories over a meal. This gave our scholars the opportunity to see their donors as regular people who are invested in their success. The Foundation said it plans on hosting future similar events based on the huge turnout for this year’s event.
The event also worked as a networking opportunity, as many donors hoped to stay connected with their scholars to offer internships and potential job opportunities.
“It’s a full-circle moment when we can show a student that their scholarship can be so much more,” Davis said. “I think we can all agree that CCA is a very special place. It’s hard to put into words, but I think looking around at the breakfast, you could actually see what CCA is all about!”
