The Community College of Aurora’s (CCA) Strategic Communications and Alumni Engagement team received four Telly Awards in May. The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens. Founded in 1979 to honor local, regional and cable television commercials, with non-broadcast video and television programming added soon after, the award has evolved with the rise of digital video to include branded content, documentary, social media, immersive and more.
The team received a gold award in the “General – Educational Institution” category for its Alumni in Action: Brandon Lowry piece, which is a part of an ongoing monthly video series. They were also awarded silver and bronze in the “Educational Institution for Online Commercials, Educational Institution for Branded Content, and Low Budget for Online Commercials” categories for the Welcome Home campaign commercial, which was shot in the fall of 2023, and is currently featured at the top of the college’s YouTube channel.
“I’d like to thank our previous Strategic Communications director, Blair Lee, for believing in our team and suggesting that we submit for Telly Award categories,” said Zachary Mills, Media Content Strategist, who oversaw the submissions. “The awards are meaningful because they affirm that we work well together and respect each other’s ideas and process. It’s awesome to work with a group of people that care about telling the story of our college and our students; as well as fostering the idea that CCA offers economic and social mobility to our students, Aurora, and the greater Denver area.”
Courtney Butler, Interim Strategic Communications Officer, added, “It’s exciting to see our story-telling process brought to life and recognized by the Telly awards. To say I’m proud is an understatement. This recognition will push our team to continue the work of crafting compelling stories about our students in multiple mediums that will inspire prospective students to enroll at our college.”
