Aurora, Colo. – The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for according to the Great Colleges to Work For program. CCA earned this recognition for the first time based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities nationwide.
Released last week, the list of best colleges to work for appears online and in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education. CCA is among 76 institutions recognized this year for workplace best practices and policies. Results are reported by institution size, with CCA included among the large institutions with 10,000 or more students. The program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognitions in the country.
This is an exciting affirmation of the collaborative work that has been done in every division of our institution over recent years to create a community that is reflective of our values and commitment as an institution,
said CCA Chief Human Resources and Personnel Success Officer Erica Hines. We are a community that values the needs and contributions of every individual. In that sense, everyone at CCA has a role in making this a great place to work.
In addition to receiving the Great Colleges to Work For recognition, CCA earned honors in three categories:
- Mission and Pride
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Inclusion, Belonging and Community
ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administered the survey and analyzed the results to determine which institutions would receive this honor. The two-part assessment includes an institutional questionnaire examining employment data and workplace policies, as well as a survey of faculty, administrators and professional support staff. Employee feedback is the primary factor in determining whether an institution received recognition.

said Richard K. Boyer, Chief Culture Strategist at ModernThink. This year’s recognized institutions survive and thrive in challenging times because of their commitment to the fundamentals.
The recognition comes after another national workplace honor for CCA. Earlier this year, staff and faculty feedback helped CCA earn recognition from The EDU Ledger as one of 27 Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2026.
Together, the national recognitions highlight the role CCA employees play in shaping the college’s workplace culture and advancing its mission. As CCA continues to serve students and communities across Aurora, Centennial and Denver, the college remains focused on fostering a workplace grounded in belonging, collaboration and shared purpose.
