“Advancing our Community Together” (ACT)
Our Major Gifts Campaign.
In 2004, the Clements Group, a nationally-recognized consulting firm specializing in fundraising and development for community colleges, conducted a study to determine priority community needs that should be addressed by the college. Interviews with 56 community leaders resulted in identification of four initiatives. The success of each initiative is dependent on financial support from the community.
Initiative 1:
Scholarships and student support.
For many families in the area, even CCA’s reasonable tuition puts education out of reach. This initiative aims to aid 350 students annually who later can enter the local skilled workforce or move on to four-year institutions. Assistance for student scholarships, tutoring and supplemental support services can turn educational dreams into reality.
Annual gifts and endowed
scholarships are the key to achieving this goal.

Initiative 2:
Healthcare education.
CCA has developed a first-rate program in emergency medicine, and has formed partnerships throughout the community and region to enter the field of health science education. However, to address shortages in health care professionals, CCA must take the major step of establishing a regional Healthcare Education Centre unlike any other in the area. The new centre will employ the best technology available, providing students with hands-on simulated and authentic experiences.
Funding of this initiative will result in the annual graduation of 120 nurses, emergency medical technicians and other professionals for local clinics, hospitals, care facilities and emergency response providers.

Initiative 3:
Science and technology education.
Our community is fortunate to be home to the industries that have been named by the Denver Metro Economic Development Council as the most promising economic development opportunities for the region. Some of the nation’s most advanced new and traditional technology companies, medical and research institutions, government installations, and redevelopment efforts surround CCA’s two campuses.
CCA must continually develop new programs, properly equip laboratories and classrooms, and attract and retain qualified faculty to ensure that these industries prosper here. Private support is needed to meet these needs.
Initiative 4:
Facilities to match the future.
The future of our community is focused on strong commerce, technology, healthcare, biosciences, and aerospace. CCA must prepare the workforce by assuring student access to technology in every class, from the basic skills to customized training programs.
CCA has developed a prototype classroom of the future, wherein students gain experience, knowledge and skill using advanced technology that is required in 21st century workplaces. CCA’s facilities must accommodate up-to-date equipment and stimulate real-world work environments with hands-on experiences. Funding is needed to upgrade buildings and classrooms to meet these standards.

The effect of diminished state funding available for public higher education makes it more essential than ever that we ask for your assistance. You, your business or organization can ACT by supporting your community and your community college through cash, contributions, planned gifts, endowments, memorial contributions, establishment of scholarships, or in-kind donations to the Advancing our Community…Together campaign. Naming opportunities are also available.
