The Position: The Colorado Film School/Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution now developing new academic programs to serve the needs of a growing student population.  The Colorado Film School, a fully accredited and internationally recognized film school creating over 1,000 original student productions per year, is seeking a full time Assistant Professor of Cinematography.  Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating curriculum in compliance with departmental guidelines.  The faculty member works collaboratively with colleagues across the college and/or in other activities, participates in advising, committee assignments, high school recruitment, and other academic and institutional support activities.  Faculty responsibilities include:  full-time teaching, student advising, participating in the development of curriculum and the use of current technology; actively engaging students; contributing to the processes of instructional planning, and assessment review; pursuit of continued professional development in both subject matter and instructional methods; and supporting student activities. Courses to include: Intro to Film Production, S16mm & HD Production, Intro to Lighting, Cinematography, Advanced Lighting, etc.  The successful candidate will be able to instruct students in the use of our significant inventory of equipment in studio and on location to achieve the aesthetic realization of story and character.  The successful candidate for the position will be a creative academic leader with a sense of humor who works well in a collaborative, participative environment.  Please visit www.coloradofilmschool.net for more information on the school and program.  

In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively communicate, concentrate, pay attention to detail, instruct/teach and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to lead with vision and possess innovative qualities will be extremely valuable.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in film/video production or related area

  • Significant professional experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MFA in film/video production

  • Show reel with work of national standing

  • Instructional experience

  • Dedication to interactive learner-centered teaching methods

  • Experience in program or curriculum development

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in partnering with public and/or private entities

Contract Specifics & Salary Range:  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Starting salary range is mid $30s to mid/high $40s per year.  CCA offers an excellent benefit plan.  Leave and holiday benefits are also included.
