Instructor (Translation and Interpretation)
POSITION TITLE: Instructor (Part-time) – Translation and Interpretation
REPORTS TO: Department Chair
SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities associated with this position
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Provide instruction in assigned classes according to established course model syllabus. This position will teach assigned classes in keeping with community college philosophy while upholding the values of the college, and abide by all relevant college and CCCS and SBCCOE policies and procedures. At the beginning of the course, the instructor will provide students and division with a syllabus for the course, attend departmental/divisional/instruction-wide meetings, and required faculty development activities such as New Faculty Orientation during the first year. In addition, the instructor will evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus, maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students and submit required records according to published deadlines as well as conduct student evaluations of instruction as required by the college.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required
Work experience as a translator or interpreter is required
Certification in translation and/or interpretation is required
Willingness to teach online as well as face to face classes is required
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in the content area or related area is preferred
Teaching experience at the college level is preferred
Current Salary Rate: $634.00 per credit hour.
